Projects

Work that rewards a long timeline. Conclusions are held back until the evidence earns them.

Nest Box Program

Active · Year 4

Twelve boxes placed at three to five meters across the north and east fields. Seven have confirmed breeding pairs across at least two seasons. The boxes nobody uses are as instructive as the ones they do — placement matters more than count.

Pellet Archive

Active · Year 6

Systematic collection under six known roosts, catalogued by date and location. Current dataset: 840 pellets, 2,100+ prey items identified. Vole cycles show up in the data a full season before they show up in the sightings.

Territory Mapping

Active · Year 3

Dusk hunt-tracks logged across a 2 km grid. Three resident territories confirmed. A fourth is suspected but not yet proven; intermittent evidence does not count as evidence.

SASE Codex

Active · v2.0

Comparative analysis of ten SASE vendors across five pillars — ZTNA, SSE, SD-WAN, AIOps, Sovereignty. Scores live in a single JSON file so a change propagates to every page that consumes it. Conclusions follow the evidence, not the marketing.

Winter Roost Monitoring

Seasonal · Nov–Mar

Weekly checks on known roost sites through the hard months. A roost that goes quiet for more than two weeks warrants a closer look. Most losses go undocumented; this makes fewer of them go unnoticed.

On timelines: none of this is fast work. A pattern seen twice is interesting. A pattern seen six times across three seasons is a conclusion. Projects are added when they can be sustained, not when they sound interesting.
